Dorothy Evelyn Lagana, 85, of Capitol Heights died Jan. 22, 2013, at Westmoreland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Colonial Beach, Va.
Born Oct. 3, 1927, in Seat Pleasant, she was the daughter of the late Frank Augusta Riston and the late Daisy Irene Horrover Riston.
She was a homemaker and had worked as a substitute teacher for Prince George’s County public schools in her earlier years. She was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Seat Pleasant. She loved cooking and being with family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Barry Wayne Lagana; a son-in-law, Marshall Bradley; two brothers, Richard and Eddie Riston; and a sister, Charlotte Vendemia.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joseph Lagana; four daughters, Charlotte Bradley of King George, Va., Rose M. Pearson (Ray) of King George, Teri A. Comfort of King George and Lisa M. Fusco (Kenneth) of Mechanicsville; brother, Frank Riston (Peggy) of Edgewater; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family received friends Jan. 28 at Raymond Funeral Chapel in La Plata, where a funeral service was held Jan. 29. Chaplain Robert Shultz officiated. Interment took place at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton. Pallbearers were Brian Pearson, Jonathan Pearson, Kenny Fusco, Marshall Bradley, Wayne Lagana and Patrick Morris.
