In the letter “Country has rejected Christianity,” it was stated that you cannot be a Christian and a Democrat because the Democratic Party endorses abortions and the gay lifestyle.

The Democratic Party does not endorse abortions or being gay, but it does endorse a person’s right to make those decisions. After all, it was God who gave us free will, not the Democratic, Republican, Independent or any other political party.

It is not our job to condemn those who we do not agree with. Those decisions are between God and those who make them.

It appears to me that the letter was self-serving and written to continue the rift between political parties, which, by the way, is sin. True Christians would not try to add to the discord between political parties; instead, they would pray for peace and harmony.

On Judgment Day, God will judge us individually and according to our obedience and relationship with Jesus, not according to which political party we belonged to or which candidate we voted for.

I am Christian and a Democrat.
