A Germantown man alleged to have sexually assaulted a woman in Frederick in front of her two children in December has been indicted on a long list of charges stemming from the incident.
Perry Eugene Lee, 21, will face 15 charges related to the home invasion and an unrelated incident involving drug possession in Frederick County Circuit Court after a hearing was held Thursday in Frederick County District Court to dismiss some of the counts.
Lee was not present in court, and his lawyer Norman Usiak did not speak on his behalf.
Assistant State’s Attorney Arya Saleh said the prosecution was dismissing four of the charges filed against Lee during the proceedings, but did not comment further after discussing the case before District Judge W. Milnor Roberts.
In the home invasion, Lee is charged with one count of first-degree burglary, four counts of first-degree assault, two counts of first-degree sexual assault and use of a firearm in committing a violent crime or felony, according to online court records.
He is scheduled for a pretrial conference in circuit court on Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. for the remaining charges. A jury trial has been scheduled for May 14-17.
The charges filed against Lee stem from a series of three incidents that began on Dec. 8. Police have said previously that they believe the incidents are related, but have not specified the exact connection.
Lee was allegedly involved in an argument with several men in which multiple shots were fired on Dec. 8, court records said.
On Dec. 9, Lee allegedly entered the home of a woman in the 400 block of West South St., and assaulted and sexually assaulted the woman inside before fleeing, police said.
He was arrested later that day by Frederick police responding to a call about a group of men arguing near All Saints and South Market streets, where one man was said to have a gun, court records said.
Lee is alleged to have fled when officers arrived, and was found with cocaine and marijuana, the records said. After his arrest, police linked him to the alleged sexual assault, and the argument and gun charges from the previous day.
In the drug case, Lee was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, carrying a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm during a controlled dangerous substance distribution offense and possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, according to court records.
He is scheduled to make an initial appearance in county circuit court at 9 a.m. on Feb. 22 for those charges.
Lee faces additional charges of concealing a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm within the city limits and reckless endangerment in county District Court, stemming from the Dec. 8 shooting incident.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 28 to face those charges.
Lee is being held without bond at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
