Isabelle Mary Couperthwaite, 98, Falls Church, Va.

Isabelle Mary Couperthwaite, 98, of Falls Church, Va., died Jan. 24, 2013, at CCRNC Family of Care, La Plata.

Born Jan. 23, 1915, in Baraga, Mich., she was the daughter of the late James E. St. Arnold and the late Isabelle Julia Loonsfoot St. Arnold.

She was a human resources specialist for more than 30 years with the U.S. Department of Indian Affairs and was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Falls Church. She was a devoted donor to the Humane Society of the United States. She enjoyed chocolates, travel, her cats, and outings with her girlfriends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Couperthwaite; daughter, Barbara Owl; and grandchild, Aluda Couperthwaite.

She is survived by her brothers, Robert and his wife Shirley St. Arnold of Brandywine and Samuel and his wife Audrey St. Arnold of Oxon Hill; and sisters, June Fritts of California, Genevieve Brooks of White Plains and Julie Brown of Alabama.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Jan. 31 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Plata. The Rev. Robert Buchmeier will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date beside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
