Mary “Pudgie” Elsa Groscost, 59, of Florida, formerly of Huntingtown, died Jan. 6, 2013.

She was born and raised in Huntingtown. She attended school in Calvert County, graduating from Calvert Senior High School in 1971. She worked for what is now the Office of Naval Intelligence as a security specialist until moving to Florida in 1993. Her interests always included family and friends, whether it was playing bingo, watching movies, having a cookout by their pool or just playing board games. She loved entertaining. She always wanted to make sure everyone felt at home. She acted as a foster parent to so many children over the years who needed a home. Her family believes her goal in life was to see how many lives she could touch, and she did touch a lot.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 41 years, Bill; daughter, Dawn Groscost Sherman and her husband, Shawn; granddaughters, Nicci and Angel; grandson, Christopher and his girlfriend, Priscilla Lane, and Jeremy Dunson; godson, Andrew Morgan; sister, Edna Morgan of Lakeland, Fla.; brothers, John H. Brady and his wife, Peggy, of Prince Frederick, E. Frank Brady and his wife, Barbara, of Huntingtown, William G. Brady and his wife, Pauline, of Galesville and Michael Brady and his wife, Bonnie, of Lakeland, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Jan. 11 at R.L. Williams Funeral Home in St. Peteresburg, Fla.

A memorial service will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 2, at the American Legion in Lusby.

Memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
