Two Waldorf men have been charged with stealing a relative’s car after officers found the vehicle overturned in the 3000 block of St. Charles Parkway at 12:51 p.m. Jan. 22, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office reported.

German Ramos-Rivas, 22, and Dimas Barahona, 19, have both been charged with motor vehicle theft.

Officers responded after receiving a report of a car crash and found the car upside down on the side of the road, but no one was inside. A witness saw two people climb out of the car through a window and run to a nearby apartment building.

Officers checked surveillance footage at the building, which showed Ramos-Rivas and Barahona entering one of the apartments. Officers went to the unit and found both men inside.

The car’s owner told officers that one of the suspects was related to him and did not have permission to drive the car.

Officer P. McPherson is investigating.
