A state trooper arrested a Prince George’s County man Wednesday night after finding marijuana and a handgun in his car during a traffic stop on northbound U.S. 301 near Acton Lane in Waldorf, the Maryland State Police La Plata barrack reported.
David Lee Miller, 36, of Upper Marlboro has been charged with possession of a stolen regulated firearm, possession of a handgun in a vehicle, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Trooper first class C. McCombs pulled over Miller, who was driving a 2003 Honda Accord, for a traffic violation at 8:58 p.m.
While talking to Miller, McCombs noticed indications of criminal activity that prompted him to scan the Accord with a police dog, police reported.
The dog alerted McCombs that drugs were in the car. McCombs searched the vehicle and found marijuana, police said.
McCombs also noticed the car’s rear seat was not secure. He lifted the seat and found a fully loaded Desert Eagle 9mm pistol. A check of the gun serial number showed it had been reported stolen through the Prince George’s County Police Department in 2010.
McCombs also seized more marijuana and a large amount of cash after searching Miller, police reported.
