Babe Ruth registration
St. Mary’s County Babe Ruth Baseball will hold registration from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 9 at the Mechanicsville and Leonardtown firehouses. Online registration is also available.
Baseball is available for children 6 to 16, with a machine pitch level for children up to age 8.

St. Mary’s American and National little leagues will hold registrations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 9 and 16 at Leonardtown and Esperanza middle schools.
Fundamentals clinics and registration will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 23 at Spring Ridge Middle School (National baseball only), from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 23 at Leonardtown Baptist Church (American baseball and softball) and from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 27 at Spring Ridge (American and National baseball and softball).

Tide baseball tryouts
The Chesapeake Tide, an 8-U and 9-U travel baseball team, will hold tryouts through the winter for players in the Southern Maryland area. Players cannot turn 9 or 10 years of age by May 1, 2013, depending on the team.

Blue Crabs meeting
Charles County Commissioner Ken Robinson (D) invites residents to join him and Blue Crabs general manager Patrick Day at 11 a.m. Feb. 9, at the Regency Furniture Stadium Legends Club at 11765 St. Linus Drive in Waldorf.
There will be no formal agenda and refreshments will be provided. Reservations are not required. Robinson will have the meeting videotaped for online viewing.

The Mechanicsville Youth Lacrosse Club is looking for coaches for their boys youth lacrosse teams for the spring season.
The players are 5 to 14. Practice starts early March and the season ends late May. Practices are held at Chaptico Park and home games are at Fifth District Park behind Lettie Dent Elementary School.

Gridiron Alumni is planning several full contact alumni football games this spring.Players are needed to sign up and the first 40 players on each team get to play. The team that gets 30 people registered first gets home field advantage.
