Two men armed with a handgun forced their way through the front door of a home Thursday night in St. Inigoes to commit a robbery, detectives report, and killed a man at the residence.

Robert L. McDowney, 37, died at the scene of the 9:25 p.m. home invasion on Beachville Road, according to investigators, who determined that one of the culprits took out the handgun during a struggle and shot McDowney. The culprits left in a silver Ford Fusion.
