Prince George's County Police have identified the man who died Friday after police found him suffering from gunshot wounds at the fire station on Ritchie Marlboro Road in Capitol Heights.

The victim was Charles Robert Thompson of the 200 block of Whitehaven Circle in Fort Washington, according to a press release from the police.

Around 12:20 a.m. Friday, Prince George’s police received a call for a shooting at the Ritchie Marlboro Volunteer Fire Department station in the 1400 block of Ritchie Marlboro Road and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Prince George’s County police.

Mark Brady, chief spokesman for the Prince George’s Fire/EMS department, said the man was dropped off at the station by an unknown person who did not stay on scene.

“Firefighters at the station began treating the patient,” Brady said. “Paramedics soon responded and transported him to a trauma center in extremely critical condition while performing CPR.”

The man died at the hospital and his identity has not yet been released, police said.

Police said detectives are now seeking suspects and trying to determine a motive for the shooting and why the man was taken to the fire station.
