Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred off the campus of the University of Maryland College Park Friday night.

Three victims were walking east on Lakeland Road just east of Rhode Island Road around 11:20 p.m. when two men passed them and then approached them from the back, according to the alert published on the university’s website. Both suspects brandished handguns and then robbed two of the victims. The third victim had nothing taken. The suspects then ran from the area, going east on Lakeland Road towards the train tracks.

It was not known Saturday whether the victims are students, said Prince George’s Police spokeswoman Officer Nicole Hubbard.

Officers from the Prince George’s County Police Department and University of Maryland performed a search of the area but were unable to locate any suspects.

No other information was available Saturday, Hubbard said.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspects’ identities to call 301-772-4908. Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Solvers at 866-411-8477 or text “PGPD” and their message to 274637.
