The 2013 Phoenix Awards will be presented at 6 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Port Tobacco Players Theater on Charles Street in La Plata.

The awards are for local bands and will be set up like the Grammy Awards show.

The Phoenix online radio station will be teaming up with the Michael J. Fox Foundation and donating 50 percent of ticket sale profits to Team Fox for Parkinson’s disease research.

The bands were nominated by online polls, and the nominations were announced Dec. 10 on air and at www.phoenixintermedia.com.

A committee of 12 local music experts decided the winners with fan voting as part of the process. There also will be a People’s Choice Award that was decided by fan voting.
