Joan Kathryn Hourigan, 77, of Odenton, formerly of Syracuse, N.Y., died Feb. 7, 2013, in Odenton.

Born Oct. 20, 1935, in Syracuse, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Gertrude Johnson.

She is survived by her children, Edward Hourigan, Denise Hourigan of Philadelphia, Laurie Hourigan of Syracuse, David Hourigan of Virginia, Jill Bradburn of Leonardtown and Karen Proctor and Jeff Hourigan, both of Odenton; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Carol and Clarence Johnson.

She graduated from Marcellus High School and graduated Onondaga Community College with an associate’s degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for Doctor Community Hospital for 32 years.

She loved sailing, vacationing in Ocean City with family, shopping, working and old movies.

The family received friends Feb. 13 at Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home in Leonardtown, where a funeral service was held Feb. 14 at 10 a.m., with Deacon Bill Nickerson officiating. Interment was private.
