Renee Sue Sanders, 52, of Dameron died Feb. 8, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born July 29, 1960, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Michael John Bernardon and Shirley Sue Gateau Bernardon.
She was a lifelong resident of Southern Maryland. She was employed as a hair stylist, a job she enjoyed and where she met many people.
On June 13, 2008, she married James Russell Sanders.
She was a mentor for Alcoholics Anonymous, where she guided and sponsored many people. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching hummingbirds, meditating and praying. She especially enjoyed taking picnics with her daughter. She was famous for her spaghetti sauce, so much so that is has been shipped to California and Hawaii. Her greatest love was spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is survived by her children, David Hines (Sarah) of Hyattsville, Madeline Clyburn (Thomas) of La Plata and Elizabeth Manzo (Brandon); siblings, Michael Bernardon (Lynn) of Huntingtown, George Bernardon (Debi) of Monroe, Ga., and Amy Young (Harry) of Hughesville; grandchildren, Brandon Manzo and Michael Manzo of Belluvue, Neb.; mother-in-law, Mary Sanders of Dameron; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends today, Feb. 13, from 3 to 6 p.m., with prayers to be recited at 5 p.m., at Brinsfield Funeral Home in Leonardtown. Interment will be private.
