It was two years ago that we lost Katie Murray to a horrible car accident during a sleet storm. As most of you know, the Katie Murray Foundation and the Katie Murray/Drive2Survive Advanced Teen Driving Program has been created. Our next class is Feb. 28. I strongly urge everyone with young drivers to enroll your child, grandchild, niece, nephew or student in this amazing class (or take the class yourself). We’ve put together a team of professional drivers, who normally teach police officers and Secret Service agents, to teach your young drivers how to avoid collisions, how to control their vehicles in adverse weather conditions and how to minimize accidents and survive the roads as they navigate through life. This is an intensive training in a safe and controlled environment. If you are interested, go to www.drive2survive.org. Cost is $250, but the Katie Murray Scholarship pays $50.
It’s up to you, parents. Buy your kid a new jacket or pair of jeans, or spend the money to give them skills that may one day save their lives. Help me help your teen drivers stay safe.
