A Mechanicsville woman was arrested during a Tuesday morning traffic stop in Waldorf after she failed field sobriety tests and a state trooper found drugs in her SUV, the Maryland State Police La Plata barrack reported.
April Lynn Bennett, 39, was driving a 2003 Dodge Durango north on U.S. 301 near its intersection with Mattawoman-Beantown Road when trooper Davis pulled her over for an equipment violation.
Davis noticed that Bennett’s breath smelled like alcohol and administered a series of field sobriety tests, which Bennett failed.
Davis arrested Bennett and searched her vehicle, finding oxycodone pills for which she did not have a prescription.
A breath test determined that Bennett’s blood alcohol level was over the legal limit.
Bennett has been charged with drug possession with intent to distribute, drug possession, possession of paraphernalia and driving under the influence of alcohol. She is being held on $5,000 bond.
