Officers are investigating an apparent suicide that occurred Feb. 12 in the 3600 block of Kempsford Field Place in Waldorf, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Police got a call at 9:15 a.m. from a neighbor who said a man, 21, was outside his home with a gun and threatening to kill himself.

Officers arrived on the scene to find the man outside, shot in the abdomen. He was flown to a nearby hospital, where he died late Tuesday night.

Police spoke to a neighbor, who witnessed the shooting, and recovered a handgun at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, but officers believe the man’s gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
