A Prince George’s County man was arrested Monday afternoon after a sheriff’s deputy found a handgun and marijuana in his car during a traffic stop in the area of U.S. 301 and Festival Way in Waldorf, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Officer R. Kelly pulled over Michael Jerome Horne Jr., 25, of Cheltenham at 1:48 p.m. Upon making contact with Horne, Kelly noticed the strong smell of marijuana.

Kelly searched the vehicle and found marijuana and the handgun.

Horne has been charged with possession of a handgun in a vehicle, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released without having to make bail.
