Someone used a ladder to break into a home in the 3100 block of Westdale Court in Waldorf through the rear balcony door and tried to steal a television Feb. 6, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Officers responded to the home’s intrusion alarm at 9:13 p.m. They found the front door and rear balcony door open.

Police processed the scene and found a ladder had been used to reach the rear balcony. It appeared the burglar had tried to steal a television but left without taking anything.

A police dog team tracked the burglar but didn’t find him. Evidence was recovered during the search, and officers are pursuing leads.
