A Welcome man was arrested Feb. 6 after a police dog team tracked him from the scene of a break-in at a liquor store in the 9200 block of Crain Highway in Bel Alton to a nearby motel, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Officers responded to an intrusion alarm at the store at 10:34 p.m. They found the glass front door broken but no one inside
Cpl. C. Roberts and his police dog tracked the suspect to a nearby motel.
While canvassing the area, officers found Todd Royer Crampton, 30, who fit the burglar’s description. Police also found evidence linking Crampton to the break-in.
Crampton has been charged with attempted burglary and destruction of property.
