Robert Michael Kite, 55, Pensacola, Fla.
Robert Michael “Bobby” Kite, 55, of Pensacola, Fla., formerly of Prince George’s County, died Feb. 10, 2013, at Baptist Hospital, Pensacola.
Born Aug. 12, 1957, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Robert S. Kite of Swan Point and Jane M. Roy of Waldorf.
Mr. Kite was a retired petty officer with the U.S. Navy, having served for 20 years. He was a graduate of Prince George’s Community College and Lincoln Tech. He was a recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and many awards for outstanding performance in the service to his country. He served in Operation Southern Watch, Desert Strike and Operation Desert Storm, serving aboard the USS Belknap, USS Virginia, USS Carl Vinson, USS Abraham and USS Arkansas.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers, James E. Kite of Laurel, Thomas F. Kite of Upper Marlboro, Stephen M. Kite of Waldorf and Charles F. Kite of Waldorf; and sisters, Mary Claire Herbert of Modesto, Calif., and Eileen T. Renterie of Dallas.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Feb. 22 at Raymond Funeral Service, La Plata. The Rev. Harry Williams will officiate. Burial will take place at 11 a.m. March 5 at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham.
Pallbearers will be a U.S. Navy honor guard.
