Lillian Ormesher Welch, 86, of La Plata died Feb. 17, 2013.

Born May 26, 1926, in Liverpool, England, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and the late Anna Ormesher.

She was formerly of Long Branch, N.J., was past president of her children’s PTA while they attended school and enjoyed knitting and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She worked at Thomson McKinnon Investments, which became Prudential Securities, as an administrative manager overseeing and training office personnel. She was a loyal part of the operation and instrumental in the growth of the office.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter S. Welch; daughter, Lesley W. Cooke; and sister, Miriam Walker.

She is survived by her son, Peter Welch Jr.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Feb. 21 at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf. The Rev. Wendell Stokes will officiate.
