The center will host an Explorations in Monotype workshop 1 to 4 p.m. March 1 and 8.

A monotype is a one-of-a-kind print where paint (oil paint, oil-based ink or watercolor) is applied directly to a printing plate, and then the paint is transferred to the printing paper by running the plate and paper through a press. Beginners are welcome. Instructor Harriett Lawler, who focuses on print making, has taken classes with master printer Allan Kaneshiro, who was the resident artist at the National Museum of American Art. The fee is $40 for MCAC members and $50 for nonmembers. Registrations received one week in advance of the workshop will receive a $10 discount. For both sessions, the cost is $60 for MCAC members and $80 for nonmembers.
