A stabbing early Thursday morning resulted in one man being flown to a hospital with serious injuries.
The La Plata Town Police and the Charles County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the Drury Drive VanGO stop in La Plata around 7:30 a.m., after someone reported a stabbing.
Diane Richardson, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, said that according to preliminary reports, two men got into an argument while riding on a VanGO bus and the altercation continued after the men got off at the Drury Drive stop.
She said the suspect, a 25 year-old man of no fixed address, stabbed the victim, a 30 year-old man of no fixed address, multiple times in the upper body and left the scene.
The suspect was apprehended nearby, Richardson said.
The victim was flown to Prince George’s Shock Trauma Center. Richardson said his injuries are serious.
Officers recovered both a knife and a pair of scissors on the scene, but it is unclear at this time whether either were used in the stabbing, Richardson said.
Charles County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.
The victim is currently being detained on an open warrant from Calvert County. Charges of first-degree assault and second-degree assault are pending.
