Prince George’s County police say they have made an arrest in the slaying of Marckel Ross, an 18-year-old Central High School junior who was killed on his morning walk to school Sept. 11, 2012.

An announcement detailing the arrest will be held at 1 p.m. at county police headquarters in Palmer Park Monday.

Ross, 18, was found dead on a sidewalk in Capitol Heights around 6:50 a.m. Sept. 11 after responding to a call for a “man down,” police said. Police said he suffered from a gunshot wound.

Prince George’s school officials and Central High School students said Ross was a member of the school’s track team, ROTC and modeling club.

Six county public school students have been killed this school year, all off school grounds.
