Felicidad Calica Ylizarde, 44, Waldorf
Felicidad Calica Ylizarde, 44, of Waldorf died Feb. 21, 2013, at Johns Hopkins University Medical Center, Baltimore.
Born Jan. 24, 1969, at the Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Va., she was the daughter of Eugenio Calica and Marina Octavo.
Mrs. Ylizarde was the salutatorian of her graduating class at Churchland High School in Portsmouth. She graduated from the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce in 1991. At UVA, she was a member of Beta Alpha Psi, the accounting honor society, and was a founder and early leader of the Organization of Young Filipino Americans. As an accountant, she worked for Coopers and Lybrand in Washington, D.C.; Failes and Associates in Portsmouth; Raley’s Home Furnishings in Lexington Park; St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office in Leonardtown; and St. Mary’s County Department of Aging in Leonardtown. During her childhood, she was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Porstmouth.
She was fond of her dogs, Piper and Justice.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 15 years, Honorio David Ylizarde; aunt and uncle, Linda and Romeo Octavo; twin brother, Chester Calica; and many other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. March 1 at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. March 2 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Plata. The Rev. Robert Buchmeier will officiate.
