John H. Edwards, 90, Newburg

John H. “Jack” Edwards, 90, of Newburg died Feb. 22, 2013.

He was the youngest son of the late Harry E. and the late Bernadette Edwards, born July 25, 1922, in Wayside.

He graduated from Glasva High School. He was a retired farmer on the family farm at Banks O’Dee in Charles County. In his younger years, he was a director of the Charles County Farm Bureau and a judge of elections in the 5th district of Charles County.

He had a very close relationship with his nieces and nephews. He was a kind and gentle person and a hard worker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas C. Edwards and Harry S. Edwards; and sisters, Joan M. Cox, Agnes Walter and Bernadette Toler.

He is survived by his wife, Marguerite R. Edwards, whom he married May 10, 1953; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Feb. 27 at Holy Ghost Church, Issue. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brian Rawlings, Patrick Thomas, Frank Swann, Willy Rawlings, Clarence “Bunky” Lloyd and Charles Rice.

Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Ghost Church, 15848 Rock Point Road, Newburg, MD 20664.

Arrangements are being handled by Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata.
