Mary Dobbs Fleming, 85, of Avenue died Feb. 22, 2013, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 20, 1928, in Everett, Mass., to the late Anna McGeggion.

She lived in the St. Mary’s County area for 21 years. She was a member of the American Legion Post 221. She enjoyed spending her time volunteering at Dynard Elementary School and the St. Clements Island Museum. She also enjoyed making crafts.

She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Fleming; daughters, Sharon Blevins of Shady Side, Carol Boyd of Mechanicsville and Susan Dobbs of Cobb Island; sons, Michael E. Dobbs of La Plata, James Dobbs of Golden Beach, David A. Dobbs of Port Republic and Thomas B. Dobbs of Elicott City; stepdaughters, Brenda Fleming McGuigan of Avenue and Patricia Fleming Caldwell of Tennessee; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends for a celebration of life from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Brinsfield Funeral Home in Leonardtown, where a service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Joe Orlando.

Interment will follow at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood.
