See Southern Maryland at its natural best at the opening of Paula Marquis’ exhibit of photography from throughout the region. A free artist’s reception Friday night will inaugurate the show, which features landscapes and waterscapes, many taken from the water’s edge or from Marquis’ kayak. They illustrate wildlife as well as the region’s cultural heritage of farming and fishing.

Marquis has published a calendar of her work, which is also used to promote Maryland tourism.

The month-long exhibition is housed at Creek Side Gallery, where the reception, with light refreshments, will be held 4-7:30 p.m. March 1 at Maryland Antiques Center, 26005 Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown. The exhibit will run daily 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. through March 30. Call 301-475-1960.
