Deputy state fire marshals served Anthony L. Wilmer, 21, with a criminal summons March 1 for allegedly intentionally damaging a fire sprinkler in the booking cell of the Calvert County Detention Center.

The incident occurred at 10:40 p.m. Feb. 27, according to a Maryland State Fire Marshal’s press release. The damage to the fire sprinkler resulted in a false alarm and water damage estimated at $200. Wilmer was charged with false alarm and malicious destruction of property, the press release states.

Wilmer faces penalties of up to five years and two months in jail and/or $5,500 in fines if convicted.
