The Charles County Spartans, a 12-U travel baseball tournament team, will hold tryouts through the winter for players in the Southern Maryland area. Players cannot turn 13 years old by May 1, 2013. For more information, call Tad Waters at 301-247-7441.
Charles County Parks and Recreation will hold registration for summer coed and girls youth basketball leagues starting March 6 for children 7 to 17 as of June 1, 2013.
The cost is $50 if registered by May 11 or $65 after that date. The registration deadline is May 31.
Volunteers are needed to be head coaches and if selected, the volunteer’s child will receive a 50 percent refund off his/her registration fee.

The Southern Maryland Heat AAU basketball team is looking for sixth-graders to play on this year’s team. Practice begins the first week of March. For more information, call head coach Anton Washington at 240-695-4631.
The Central Charles Jaguars will hold registration on March 9, 16 and 30 at Dick’s Sporting Goods in the St. Charles Towne Center and April 6, 13 and 27 at Sports Authority in Waldorf.
The Jaguars are also accepting applications for football and cheerleading coaches.

White Plains Golf Course will offer golf memberships for children 8 to 17 (as of Jan. 1, 2013).
The cost for a yearly pass, which covers April 1 to March 31, is $175. The cost for a three-month pass, which covers June 1 to Aug. 31, is $125. Beginners are welcome. Early registration is encouraged.

The Pisgah Youth Soccer Association, which serves Pisgah, Ironsides, Marbury and Nanjemoy, is holding open online registration for the spring season for children 4 to 18.
The cost is $80, which covers a child’s uniform and all county fees. Registration can be done online at www.pisgahsoccer.org via PayPal, by cash or check.
For those who pay by cash or check, payment is due by the first scheduled practice of the season. All practices are held at the Melwood Recreational Center in Nanjemoy.
