The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating what officials said was a suspicious fire that destroyed a 100-year-old barn in Owings.
At 7:25 p.m. March 5, about 40 firefighters from the Dunkirk, Prince Frederick, Huntingtown and North Beach volunteer fire departments responded to a 25-by-70-foot barn on Briscoe Turn Road in Owings for a reported fire, according to a fire marshal’s press release.
The fire, which was discovered by a citizen, caused about $40,000 in damage and completely destroyed the barn, the press release states. No injuries were reported.
