Margaret Eleanor “Ahda” Weber Jenkins, 92, of Mechanicsville died peacefully March 6, 2013, at Hospice House of St. Mary’s.

Born Feb. 3, 1921, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of James E. and Rose C. Harding Weber.

She worked for many years and retired from the C&P Telephone Co. as a switchboard operator. She loved to cook and spend time with her family. She was given the name “Ahda” by her grandchildren, James and Kyle Zalovick, when they were little. She also loved to read, travel, do crossword puzzles and play solitaire. She spoke Latin very well and loved God and her church. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially during the holidays. She was dearly loved by her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Kenneth S. and Michael A. Jenkins; brothers, Eddie and Joseph Harding; sister, Elizabeth and her husband, Ralph Jones; grandson, Daniel Jenkins; and half sister, G. Caro Werner. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen C. Johnson; eight grandchildren, Dawn and Timmy Shawn Heiston, James and Kyle Zalovick, December Fritzman and Paul, Elaine and Phillip Jenkins; 20 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

The family received friends March 10 at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home in Charlotte Hall, where a funeral service was held March 11. Interment took place at St. Mary’s Queen of Peace Cemetery in Helen.
