The Southern Maryland Business Network recently presented more than $17,000 to Health Partners in Waldorf for providing health care to uninsured and underinsured Charles County residents.
SMBN chose Health Partners as the 2012 recipient of its annual fundraising efforts to help a Southern Maryland nonprofit organization that provides exceptional service to area residents.
Health Partners was founded in 1992 and operates as an independent, nonprofit organization with a volunteer board of directors of medical and health service professionals.
“We were extremely pleased at being chosen as SMBN’s nonprofit organization for 2012, and we are even more gratified to receive this significant demonstration of community support, through SMBN’s fund-raising initiative,” said Health Partners Executive Director Christine Mulcahey in an SMBN news release.
SMBN is a group of 45 businesses that develops networking relationships among their members for the mutual growth of area entrepreneurs. Collectively, the group sponsors three annual events to raise funds for an area nonprofit.
“We were very proud to choose Health Partners in 2012, because we could see how many families in our own communities would benefit from their services,” SMBN fundraiser Chairwoman Cindy Barnes said in the release.
