Ethel Inez Cusic, 76, of Mechanicsville died March 12, 2013, in her home.

Born March 7, 1937, in Benedict, she was the daughter of the late William Nicholas and Elsie Irene (Goldsmith) Langley.

She was the wife of Quincy Edward “Junior” Cusic, whom she married on Aug. 3, 1957, in Benedict.

She is survived by her children, Debbie Johnson (Ray) of Bryantown and Sandra Wood (Tony) and Karen Montgomery (John “Monkey”), both of Mechanicsville; and her brother James Langley (Darlene) of La Plata.

She graduated from La Plata High School in 1955 and moved from Hughesville to St. Mary’s County in 1957. She worked as a secretary for Edward “Junior” Cusic Building Co. for 42 years, retiring in 2005. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, playing slot machines, watching wrestling, camping, playing cards and gardening. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was known to many as “Mama Inie” and “Aunt Inie” to her niece and nephew, Donna and Tom. Many complimented her famous potato salad. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend. She was a second mom to a lot of people and was loved by many.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 17, from 2 to 5 p.m., with prayers recited at 3 p.m., at Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home in Leonardtown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 18, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Morganza, with the Rev. Keith Woods officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery in Helen. Pallbearers will be Francis Copsey, Francis Langley, Tom Langley, Bobby Cusic, Ray Johnson and John “Monkey” Montgomery. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Montgomery, Jimmy Herriman, Raymond Quade, Tom Hagan, Rita Kelley and Dorothy Morgan.
