Prince George’s County police are seeking an armed man who allegedly robbed two Capitol Heights convenience stores in a less than 24 hours.

The unidentified man was first seen at a 7-Eleven in the 7400 block of Central Avenue around 3 a.m. March 28, when he chose a drink from a cooler, walked to the counter to pay for the item, then pulled out a handgun and demanded cash when the register opened, said Cpl. Clinton Copeland, a county police spokesman.

According to county police, he jumped over the counter and removed the cash drawer and ran away.

Around 12 a.m. the following day, police responded to the 1400 block of Ritchie Road in Capitol Heights where he had allegedly robbed another 7-Eleven.

In that store, he was also posing as a customer when he chose a drink and came to the counter as if he were going to pay, police said.

According to police, once the clerk opened the register, the man pulled out a handgun, took the cash drawer and ran out.

Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Robbery Unit at 301-772-4905 or Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS to remain anonymous.
