For one week, Montgomery County Ride On bus passengers can get a free ride by donating food.

Montgomery County will host Ride On’s annual “Give and Ride” program starting Sunday and continuing through May 4.

According to a county news release, passengers who bring a non-perishable food item or a children’s item will get a free ride that week.

Donations made through the food drive support Manna Food Center, Montgomery County’s main food bank. Manna feeds 3,600 hungry families each month, the release said.

Everyone in the county can participate in the food drive, according to the release.

Those who don’t ride the bus can participate by giving a food or children’s item donation to any Ride On bus driver or by sending contributions directly to Manna. Disposable diapers, formula, baby or toddler food, and juice are especially useful to families in need, the release said.
