A Waldorf man was struck and killed after he tried to cross U.S. 301 in Waldorf on Wednesday morning.
The Maryland State Police reported that at 1:26 a.m. May 1, Jose Echeverria-Aguilar, 27, of Waldorf attempted to cross the southbound lanes on U.S. 301 at Vernon Road from the center median when he was hit by a Ford Focus driven by Demeana Gresham, 21, of Nanjemoy.
Echeverria-Aguilar died on the scene.
Police reported he failed to yield the right of way.
Gresham remained on the scene and was not injured, an MSP news release states.
Echeverria-Aguilar’s body was sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.
