Caitlin Keeton will take over as principal at Little Flower School this summer, according to school and church officials.
Keeton, who is currently principal at St. Rose of Lima School in Chelsea, Mass., will replace James Moorhead, the principal of the Catholic school in Great Mills for the last two years.
The Rev. Joseph Calis of Holy Face Catholic Church said Friday that he is looking forward to Keeton’s leadership at the school and that Moorhead will be missed.
Calis said Moorhead stepped in at a crucial time for the school and helped ramp up fundraising efforts and increase enrollment. Moorhouse will take over as head of school at St. Martin’s School in Annapolis, close to where he lives, after his last day at Little Flower at the end of May.
Keeton was born in North Carolina, but has ties to St. Mary’s County. Calis said that while she was growing up, the new principal visited her grandmother’s farm in Valley Lee. Keeton plans to move here in July.
Keeton has taught in public and Catholic schools and has been principal for the last three years at St. Rose of Lima. She holds two master’s degrees from Boston College.
“She has a strong Catholic faith” and brings experience in education, Calis said.
