Matthew Farley Patterson, 25, of Waldorf has been charged through a summons with a theft offense in court papers alleging he stole fishing poles, medical supplies and a wallet last year from a vehicle near Mechanicsville.
The items were taken the night of Sept. 13 from Michael Hinman’s vehicle at a neighborhood off North Sandgates Road, court papers state, and the suspect’s parents told Hinman last month that they had some fishing poles that might belong to him.
Hinman went to their residence, determined that the fishing poles were the ones he was missing and also found his stethoscope and other medical supplies taken from his vehicle, according to a charges application filed by St. Mary’s sheriff’s deputy Christopher Beyer.
The stolen items were valued at $1,230.
