A jack-knifed tractor-trailer that spilled fuel on the inner loop of I-495 snarled traffic Tuesday afternoon, according to a Montgomery County fire official.
The spill closed all lanes of the Beltway’s Inner Loop around 2 p.m. after Old Georgetown Road and before Route 355.
There were no serious injuries, according to Montgomery County Assistant Fire Chief Scott Graham. A hazmat team was on scene, he said.
The lanes reopened around 4:30 p.m., according to Maryland State Police.
The cause of the incident was believed to be speed, MSP said.
