Charles County Parks and Recreation is holding registration for summer coed and girls youth basketball leagues for children 7 to 17 as of June 1, 2013.
The cost is $50 if registered by May 11 or $65 after that date. The registration deadline is May 31.
Volunteers are needed to be head coaches and if selected, the volunteer’s child will receive a 50 percent refund off his/her registration fee.

The Little Eagles Coed Basketball Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 17 to 21 and June 24 to 28 at North Point High School.

The Yellow Jackets Basketball Camp for boys 6 to 17 will be held at Gwynn Park High School in Brandywine with five one-week sessions from June 17 to July 22.

The Southern Maryland Optimist Junior Golf Championships will hold six nine-hole tournaments for children 10 to 18.
The tournaments will be May 13 at Potomac Ridge Golf Course in Waldorf, May 14 at Twin Shields Golf Club in Owings, May 30 at Wicomico Shores Golf Course in Mechanicsville, June 3 at Breton Bay Golf and Country Club in Leonardtown, June 6 at White Plains Golf Course in White Plains and June 10 at Swan Point Yacht & Country Club in Issue.
All tournaments begin with registration at 2:30 p.m. with the first group teeing off at 3 p.m. Children will be fitted in until 5 p.m., so there is no need to take them out of school early.
The winners in all 12- to 18-year-old boys and 14-18 girls divisions at each event will qualify for the Maryland-South Delaware District of Optimist International Tournament at Marlton Golf Course in Marlton on June 22. Age is as of July 30, 2012.
District winners will qualify for the Optimist International tournament at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., in late July.

White Plains Golf Course will hold two junior golf clinics for children 8 to 17.
Session 1, for children 8 to 12, will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. June 24 to 27. Session 2, for children 13 to 17, will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. July 8 to 11.
Each four-class session costs $50 per child. Maximum class size is eight participants.
At the completion of the clinics, participants will receive a complimentary round of golf.
