More than 20 Crown townhomes have been sold within days of the Gaithersburg development’s open house event, according to a Crown spokesperson. Developers opened the first of its model townhomes to the public on June 1.
More than 500 people turned out for the open house event, according to Crown spokesperson Charlie Maier.
The townhomes are part of Crown West, a residential neighborhood where about 200 out of 339 townhomes are currently under construction, according to a press release. Builders KB Home, Pulte Homes and M/I Homes are constructing townhomes in Crown West. M/I Homes will have a model home open to the public later this summer,
According to KB Home spokeswoman Cara Kane, the homes will be priced in the mid-$600,000 range. Kane said she anticipates most buyers in the Crown area to be homeowners looking to move from a larger or smaller house, not first-time homeowners.
Crown West is a residential development that lies in the middle third of the Crown development. A future phase of residential development is slated for the part of the site that lies south of Decoverly Drive. Downtown Crown, which is also under construction, will be made up of shops and restaurants within walking distance of the new townhomes.
Amenities like the two-story community facility, which will include a pool and a rock wall, will be built at the same time as the homes, Kane said. The facility will be located on Decoverly Drive, at a southern entrance to the Crown community.
The Crown development, on Fields Road at Sam Eig Highway, will include 320,000 square feet of retail and commercial space, as well as over 2,000 residential units.
Developers broke ground on the Crown project, built on the former Crown farm, in October of 2012.
