The National Weather Service has placed Southern Maryland and six other Maryland counties under a severe thunderstorm watch that will remain in effect until 7 this evening.
Charles County government spokeswoman Crystal Hunt said shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday that they had not received word of any complications related to severe weather in the county.
Hunt said the county has canceled the Commission for Women meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, and also has closed all outdoor pools.
“The main thing is to be alert and stay tuned to the local weather stations for information,” Hunt said.
