The Society Hill Garden Club of Breton Bay installed its new slate of officers at its annual picnic held recently at the home of Kathy Glockner.
After touring the gardens at the homes of Ann Waring and Kathy Glockner, the members shared a potluck meal.
Kay Christman, parliamentarian, then conducted the installation ceremony and presented a gift of appreciation to the outgoing president, Mary Kukla. The new officers sworn into office include Pamela Herold, president; Melissa Georgiou, vice president; Jenny Matlack, secretary; and Isabel Guillory, treasurer.
Sarah Georgiou, daughter of Melissa, took photos throughout the evening.
The garden club's mission is to promote beautification through landscaping and gardening projects within the Breton Bay community. The club's projects include the row of Yoshima cherry trees that line the Breton Bay Golf Course along Society Hill Road.
In addition to this work, the club holds monthly meetings where guest speakers provide the club members with horticultural and gardening information. Each year, the garden club conducts two major fund raising events — a mulch sale in March and a plant sale in May. The funds raised by these events are used for beautification projects within the Breton Bay community.
The Society Hill Garden Club of Breton Bay welcomes anyone in the Breton Bay community who has a passion and love for flowers and nature to join the club.
