Crews work to install new signs on building this week

Signs of Civista Medical Center’s transformation are clear.

The hospital announced in May that effective July 1, its name would change to University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center. This week, crews have worked outside to install new signs and bring the change full circle.

The name change reflects the hospital’s membership in the University of Maryland Medical System, which it joined in 2011.

As of Friday afternoon, new signs had been installed on the outside wall above the hospital’s main entrance, above the doctor’s entrance and on Charles Street. UM Charles Regional spokeswoman Tina Anderson said that crews had not yet begun working on installing signs at the back of the hospital. She said she was unsure whether the work would be finished by the close of business Friday and that it would likely spill over into the weekend.
