Germantown’s Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union has received the Maryland D.C. Credit Union Association’s Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award for the fourth year in a row.
The credit union was recognized for organizing a charity golf tournament, as well as participating in community programs such as Helping Kids Eat, which provides food packages to 60 needy children in local elementary schools.
Since its creation six years ago, the tournament has raise more than $160,000 for Community Services for Autistic Adults and Children, according to a release from the company.
The company also has provided financial education to more than 4,500 students and adults in area schools and through its partnership with Interfaith Works.
Mid-Atlantic Federal Credit Union has adopted Manna Food Center of Gaithersburg as its main charitable initiative for the year.
The credit union will be collecting nonperishable food for Manna Food Center at each of its area branches, as well as at the free financial seminars it provides.
