Five members of the St. Leonard Volunteer Fire Department responded to a sheriff’s office marked patrol vehicle that caught fire Thursday.

According to a Maryland State Fire Marshal release issued Thursday night, the fire occurred at approximately 1:56 p.m. in Port Republic.

Lt. Steve Jones of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office said the fire seemed to be related to an electrical issue and no foul play is suspected.

The vehicle and all of its contents were destroyed, with an estimated $10,000 in damages, and no injuries or other damage were reported as a result of the fire, according to the release. The fire marshal’s office is investigating.
