The Charles County Sheriff's Office is looking for a driver who reportedly left the scene of a crash involving a man in a wheelchair late Aug. 17.
At 11:01 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to the intersection of St. Charles Parkway and St. Thomas Drive in Waldorf for the report of a crash. Police said in a press release that a 35-year-old Waldorf man in a wheelchair was attempting to cross the parkway when a vehicle struck him and left the scene. Witnesses called 911.
The man was flown to Prince George's Hospital Center with injuries that were initially believed to be life-threatening. According to the release, he is in stable condition.
According to the release, witnesses described the vehicle as white, and evidence collected at the scene suggests it may be a Ford, possibly a Ford truck. Its right headlight was not working after the crash.
