Two routine maintenance operations will take place on the Gov. Thomas Johnson Memorial Bridge in Solomons this week.

On Wednesday night, crews will repair aerial navigation lights on the bridge from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., according to an email notice from Maryland State Highway Administration officials. Motorists can expect a single-lane flagging operation across the bridge during those hours.

Then on Sunday, SHA will perform routine cleaning of the bridge scuppers from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., and again, a single-lane closure with flagging will be in place, according to the notice. Scuppers are the cut-outs at the base of the bridge’s sidewalls that provide drainage during rain and snowfall.
